■ Hot springs
There are many hot springs in Tokachi. There is a diversity of spring quality and it is dotted with mineral springs, moor springs, and non-volcanic springs. Obihiro City's hot springs are very dear to the locals in the forms of public baths and hot springs.
■ Food
Obihiro City is a food-supply base with a food self-sufficiency rate of 1100%. Due to the clean air and water, the harvests of the sea and fields are fresh. Food safety and security is always being researched.
■ Sweets
Obihiro produces large amounts of raw materials necessary for the creation of sweets such as wheat, dairy products, adzuki beans, and sugar beets. It is a famous town for delicious sweets.
■ Hokkaido Garden Highway
A highway stretching 2000km and connecting Asahikawa to Furano to Tokachi to the south and north where 7 of Hokkaido's representative gardens are concentrated. Enjoy the scenery of Hokkaido.
■ Arch Bridges
Nukabirako is dotted with arch bridges (33 bridges). The old Shihorosen arch bridges are heritage of Hokkaido. Viewing platforms along national road 273 are view spots.
■ Yachiyo Farm
A farm that stretches out at the foot of the Poroshiri-dake peaks, which overlook the fields of Tokachi. 1500 head of cattle are grazing, and there is a lodging and training facility where you can have a learning experience. At the restaurant 'Cowbell House', you can eat the dishes that utilize locally-produced ingredients.
■ Shikaribetsu Lake Kotan
Kotan is a phantom village which is created every year from late-January to late-March on the frozen Shikaribetsu lake. 'Igloo' buildings made of ice and water are created and become ice bars, concert halls, and ice theaters. There is a pervasive sense of openness with things such as a an open-air bath on the ice--unique in the world.
■ Swan Festival Sairinka
Held from late-January to late-February. Under the freezing ground and twinkling stars, countless lights create a mysterious space in this winter event.
Tokachi, with its magnificent scenery, has endless fun such as 1) tasting the pleasures of the earth, 2) mall hot springs, which is rare anywhere in the world, and 3) outdoor sports utilizing magnificent locations.
Located near the center of Hokkaido, Obihiro is convenient for access to Sapporo, Asahikawa, Furano, and Kushiro. You can use this as a base for enjoying Hokkaido.

World-class horseracing. Large 1-ton horses pull 1-ton iron sleighs at high speeds competing around a 200m linear course. Every Saturday, Sunday, and Monday are viewing days (year-round). Registered as a Hokkaido heritage.
A famous station on the old Hiroo line which was famous for "From patriotism to happiness". Popular spots where you can have a wedding experience (late-April through late-September).

Tokachi Marché, late September The area around Obihiro JR Station is used as a venue to hold Tokachi's biggest food and music event. You can enjoy meals, sweets and processed goods made with ingredients produced in Tokachi limited to the Tokachi Marché. |

Rally Hokkaido, mid September Rally Hokkaido held over 1 City and 5 towns and villages. The dust on the forest roads being thrown into the air by the high speeds is intense! You can enjoy seasonal Hokkaido at the Hokkaido food festival that is held at the same time. |

Iwanai Senkai Maple Festival, mid October Be supremely satisfied by the season of food and the richness of nature among the beautiful red autumn leaves. There is a lot to enjoy, including a ballad show, bargain farm produce sale, an animal petting corner and more. |

Obihiro Chrysanthemum Festival, from late October to early November The main highlights are the chrysanthemum flower exhibition which is comprised of approximately 1,000 large blooming flower bowls on display, and a symbolic monument set up in the center of the venue. In addition, there is the product corner where special products of Oita-shi and Tokushima-shi are on display and are extremely popular every year. |
